Epidemiology

Epidemiology is a branch of public health science concerned with the distribution and determinants of health-related states or occurrences (including disease) and the use of this knowledge for the prevention and treatment of diseases and other health issues.
Epidemiological investigations can be carried out using various methods: surveillance and descriptive studies can examine the distribution, while analytical research can be used to study determinants.
